ORGC Annual Field Trip: A Visit to Terrain

On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, the Olde Ripton Garden Club went on a field trip to Terrain in Westport, Connecticut.

“With a full nursery of garden and indoor plants, eco-friendly growing supplies, home and garden décor, furniture, containers, gifts, personal care items, locally sourced and prepared artisan foods, in addition to found objects and antiques from around the world, terrain merges global and local into a celebration of heritage, community and design.”1 Terrain has several locations in the US, including Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and California.  For our 2018 annual field trip, we visited the Westport, Connecticut location for a tour of the outdoor plants and indoor offerings.

Page Englehart of Terrain led Olde Ripton Garden Club members through the outdoor displays, describing the classes in flower arranging, how Terrain classifies their annuals by cultivar and color to assist with garden design, and where their plants are sourced.

Inside, we toured displays of succulents, terrariums, orchids, bromeliads, earthenware planters, and driftwood.  Terrain also features housewares and spa-inspired health and beauty products.  Other areas featured books, garden tools, and children’s products.  Additional sections are designed for indoor classes.

Terrain’s cafe provides an artisan, farm-to-table dining experience as well as carry-out options.

Most Olde Ripton Garden Club members stayed for a lovely lunch, and some took home unique items for home and garden.  Learn more about Terrain at their website:  Terrain
