For our July meeting, Artistic Workshop and Exhibits Chair Linda Hooper led us in a decoupage workshop.
Every member received a pre-painted clay pot, a colorful napkin, paint brush, sandpaper and a bottle of Mod Podge. Linda led everyone in a step-by-step tutorial helping create individually decorated terra cotta pots.

America’s oldest public rose garden celebrates its 120th anniversary this Saturday, June 15, 2024. This is the first municipal rose garden in the United States and the third largest rose garden in the country today. There will be free educational and family-friendly activities while showcasing the Helen S Kaman Rose Garden at the peak of its seasonal beauty. All Rose Weekend events are FREE and open to the public.

Our June 4, 2024 luncheon was held at Il Palio Ristorante in Shelton. 
Many thanks go to club member Richard Burns who treated all of us to a wonderful meal.
Each table was adorned with a vase of red and yellow roses. At each table there was one plate with a dot on the bottom and the lucky member at that seat got to take the arrangement home with them.
In celebration of National Garden Week, the Olde Ripton Garden Club donated floral arrangements, designed by past Club President Renee Marsh, to the Plumb Memorial Library and the Huntington Branch Library.

The gardens designed and maintained by Olde Ripton Garden Club are the Huntington Green, the Shelton Community Center, the Huntington branch of the Shelton Post Office, the Shelton Historical Society’s herb garden, the Shelton High School’s sign, the Plumb Memorial Library, the Shelton City Hall, the Huntington Fire House, the Belden Building and the Shelton Police Department.
Help Celebrate National Garden Week in our Community!
Join NGC clubs across the country to celebrate National Garden Week, June 2nd–8th, 2024. This week is an opportunity to encourage pride in our community, interest new members in the Olde Ripton Garden Club, and work with other groups to be part of those efforts.
Founded in 1976, the Olde Ripton Garden Club (ORGC) of Shelton, Connecticut is a community of garden enthusiasts committed to sharing the love of gardening and conservation. We provide education in horticulture and assist in beautifying the grounds around public buildings.
Meetings are held March through December (no meetings in January and February.) They are on the first Monday of the month (except for holidays) and start promptly at 10 a.m. There will be no meeting in June.
Dues are $35 per year, guests are welcome to attend, there is a $5 Visitor Fee for non-members.
On Saturday, May 18, 2024 Olde Ripton Garden Club held its annual Plant and Bake Sale.
For sale were annuals and perennials, along with plants from member’s gardens.

Thanks to Co-Chairs Lisa DiNardo and Debby Garrow, along with the help of all the members of the garden club for making the plant sale a huge success.
Thanks also to the local businesses that donated gift cards to the Plant and Bake Sale.
This Saturday from 9am to 1pm, Rain or Shine, come visit the Olde Ripton Garden Club’s Annual Plant and Bake Sale held at St. Paul’s Church parking lot. There will be a master gardener present to answer your gardening questions.
Available will be member grown perennials, also for sale will be annuals, herbs and tomato plants. Check out our bake sale and gift card sale, all proceeds benefit community projects including city gardens, senior garden therapy and scholarships.

At our May meeting we welcomed Dan Quinn of Wells Hollow Creamery. Dan shared a Power Point Presentation with us covering the important rules of pruning shrubs in our gardens.

On Monday, April 29th the Olde Ripton Garden Club went on a field trip to Beardsley Cider Mill and Orchard in Shelton, CT.

On Saturday, April 20th the Olde Ripton Garden Club held the “Earth Day Seed Planting Workshop” at the Plumb Memorial Library. The workshop was attended by adults and children.
Committee Chair Teya Bell explained how to create a mini greenhouse using repurposed plastic food containers.
Participants used containers, soil and seeds to create their own greenhouses for indoor seed starting.
Teya also explained the day-by-day care needed for the greenhouses to be successful.
